Teagan from @the_rattan_reno_ has just unveiled her gorgeous new kitchen. We chatted with her about the design inspiration for her new kitchen and her advice for would be kitchen renovators.
Why did you decide to renovate your kitchen?
We bought this little gem in August 2019, 3 months after we got married! The house needed a lot of love and we want to give it the attention it deserves so we have only done the kitchen reno thus far.
As soon as we put an offer in on the house, we started planning the kitchen, we fully believe the kitchen is the heart of the home and certainly is our home hub since the renovation has been completed.
Part 2 (the laundry and bathroom edition) is coming soon!
What was your design inspiration?
Our inspo for this kitchen primarily came from Three Birds Renovations who I follow.
We wanted a functional space that would fit with our personal style, be functional for our family and also be an entertainers paradise.
As you can probably tell from my Instagram, we’re quite influenced by coastal and Scandi styles and looks!
What did you enjoy about your renovation experience
By the time we had enough money saved up to the do the kitchen, we had a clear vision of what we wanted it to look like. Seeing how Kitchen Connection made our vision come to life was really incredible.
What do you love the most about your new kitchen?
Picking just one thing that we love the most out of this kitchen is tough! A working cooktop is definitely at the top of the list. When we bought the house the cook top didn’t work so we cooked on a bbq for 10 months!!!!
Appliances aside, it’s a solid tie between the gas strut window that opens up onto the breakfast bar and the stunning handless cabinetry that gives a sleek finish to the kitchen.
Do you have any advice for would be kitchen renovators?
We are reno rookies ourselves, but my parting wisdom is to do your research- know what features you want in your kitchen, go look at different kitchens and take all the best features and put it in your own.
There are so many features we only have because we went in-store to Kitchen Connection to see and touch what was on offer and seek advice.
Friends, other renovation websites and Pinterest were all great sources of inspiration for us.
Finally, don’t be afraid for something to be included or changed if you want it – it’s always worth it in the end!
