Who would have thought the humble kitchen sink could be so technical! Confused about flushmounting, undermounting, configurations, roll edges and seals? Read on to demystify these terms and be guided on selecting a sensational sink for your next kitchen…
When it comes to selecting a kitchen sink, there are actually a few important things to consider. The first thing to start with is how you want your sink to sit within your kitchen. There are a few sink installation options available for your kitchen renovation:
Undermount
Undermounting is becoming a really popular choice in modern kitchens – allowing you to achieve a high end look in your kitchen quite affordably.
Undermounting is most commonly used by homeowners installing a stone or granite benchtop and basically sees the sink mounted in a recessed fashion below the surface line of your kitchen bench.
Flush Mounting
Flushmounting sees your sink positioned to sit flush with the benchtop. This style is again most commonly used for granite or stone benchtops.
Top Mounting
The cheapest of all options, a top mount sees your sink sitting on top of your bench surface and can be typically used on most types of benchtops – stone or laminate.
Once you decide on the installation type for your sink, you need to consider bowl size, finishes and fittings.
