2022 Kitchen Design Forecast

There’s a lot to consider when planning for a new kitchen – from choosing colour schemes and finishes to door profiles and accessories.  All of your selected design components will play an integral role in how functional and visually appealing your kitchen is and the value your kitchen renovation might add to your home.

To help you start planning for your new kitchen, our designers have rounded up their top predictions when it comes to kitchen design trends for the year ahead.

Read on to see our 2022 Kitchen Design Forecast where calm tones, clean lines, tactile surfaces and multi-use spaces are predicted to be high on the wish list.

CALM SPACES

With a chaotic few years behind us, our homes have become a place of stability and retreat for many. Calm kitchen spaces that foster connection will be key in 2022.

Soft colour palettes of muted greens, soft whites and organic taupe tones will create fresh and airy spaces that won’t date over time.

CLEAN LINES

Clean, uninterrupted lines will create a kitchen space that’s uncluttered and flows. For this to work best, ensure your cabinetry units and benchtops are perfectly aligned, opt for integrated appliances, handle-less cabinetry and lots of storage to keep appliances and clutter off your benchtops.

TACTILE TOPS

Add visual interest and a tactile element to your kitchen with benchtops that draw upon stone, concrete, terrazzo and marble designs.   These inspired benchtops add an organic touch to your design by embracing raw looks and textures, providing a great balance for white and neutral bases that won’t overwhelm your space.

MUTLI-USE DESIGN

With our kitchens filling a variety of roles now – from meal preparation and entertaining to the remote office – we predict kitchens that provide multi-use integrated spaces will grow in popularity.

Opt for study nooks, dining islands, island power points, charging stations and of course – oodles of storage for items additional to your immediate kitchen needs (think books, paper, charges and cables).

FEATURE SPLASHBACKS

Your kitchen splashback is one of the most important (and used!) areas in your kitchen.  A splashback protects your walls from heat and moisture in key cooking zones but its functional nature doesn’t mean that your splashback should be boring.

Add interest and texture to your kitchen by introducing coloured glass or tiles, glass or windows for natural light, tumbled tiles for texture or tiles laid in an interesting pattern.
